According to the Hindu belief, Chardham is the four most important Hindu religious sites in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state, India. Yamunotri, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Kedarnath are collectively known as Chardham. Chardham is the sacred temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.

Best Time to visit Chardham

Chardham Yatra usually starts from the last week of April or the first week of May till the last week of October or the first week of November but the month of April, May, and the first half of June have amusing weather as it marks the pleasant summers in the Char Dham. The rainy season months are not the Best time to visit the Char Dham as June's second half, July and August are prone to rain due to which landslides may occur and this situation is very frequent in the Char Dham region. You can also make your trip plan throughout the month of September, October, and the mid of November for some Dhams, as winter starts with the beginning of November in the Himalayas.

Itinerary

You will be transferred to railway station in Surat to board the overnight train to Haridwar. Overnight on board.

Morning meet our driver at haridwar& drive for Barkot via Mussoorie, enroute visit Mussoorie Lake &Kempty Fall in Mussoorie. Later drive straight to Barkot. Check into the hotel arrival in Barkot. Overnight stay at Barkot. Barkot Weather – Generally pleasant in summer, the temperature ranges from 25-30 degree Celsius, winter: The Days are pleasantly cool but the nights are cold, temp ranges from 10 deg to 05 deg.

Early morning after breakfast (packed breakfast), drive to Jankichatti/Phoolchatti& startrek from here to Yamunotri (6kms) (Either by walk or by horse or by Doli at own cost). After taking bath in JamunabaiKund’s warm water and having “Darshan” of “Yamunaji” return to Jankichatti by trek. Later drive towards Barkot, Overnight stay at Barkot. Yamunotri Temple: Maharani Gularia of Jaipur built the temple in the 19th Century. It was destroyed twice in the present century and rebuilt again. At Yamunotri, one can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the Taptkund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as “Prasad”. Here near the temple “Pooja” can be offered to DivyaShila. Yamunotri Temple: Maharani Gularia of Jaipur built the temple in the 19th Century. It was destroyed twice in the present century and rebuilt again. Surya Kund: There are a Number of thermal springs in the vicinity of the temple, which flows into numerous pools. The most important of these is Surya Kund. Divya Shila: A rock pillar, worshipped before entering the Yamunotri Temple. Yamunotri Weather – In summer the maximun temp is 18 degrees and the minimum is 10 degrees celsius. The days are pleasantly cool but the nights are cold.

Morning after breakfast, drive to Uttarkashi. Check into the hotel arrival in Uttarkashi.Visit KashiVishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi.Overnight stay at Uttarkashi. Uttarkashi: Uttarkashi is home to a number of ashrams, temples. The name of the town reflects its similarity to and location (as north of) the city of Kashi (Varanasi). Similar to Varanasi, town of Uttarkashi is also situated on the banks of River Ganga. Vishwanath temple – Vishwanath temple is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Northern India. Re-constructed in 1857 by Maharani Khaneti Devi of Tehri State in the ancient architectural style. It is situated at the heart of the town. A massive iron trident, symbolic of divine mother’s, is erected and worshiped from time immemorial at the temple complex. Ganeshji, SakshiGopal, Markandeya Rishi’s small shrines are also part of the temple complex. AkhandJyoti as well as AkhandAbhishek, special aarti at morning and evening are offered. As per SkundaPuran, Uttarkashi is known as ‘Saumya Varanasi’, the abode of Lord Shiva in Kaliyug and counted as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Shakti temple – Right in front of the Vishwanath temple is Shakti temple. It has a big ‘Trishul’ of about 6 meters in height and a circumference of 90 cms. at bottom. Though there are different views about the making of this, the upper part of it seems to be made up of iron and the lower one is of copper. As per the epics this Shakti was thrown on the devils by the Goddess Durga (Shakti), hence it gets its name. Since then this Shakti is erected over here. Uttarkashi Weather – Generally hot in summer, the temperature ranges from 30-35 degree Celsius but nights is pleasant, Cold in winters.

Early morning (packed breakfast) drive to Gangotri, enroute at Gangnani take a holy dip in GaramKund, further drive to Gangotri via beautiful Harsil Valley. Harsil is famous for its nature beauty and for the majestic views of the Deodar trees and mountains. On arrival at Shree Gangotri, take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges which is also called Bhagirathi at its origin. Perform Pooja and Darshan, after that relax for some time in the lovely surroundings. Later drive back to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi. Gangotri Temple: The temple was constructed by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th Century, is situated on the right bank of Bhagirathi. Gangotri Weather – The maximum temperature during summer can go up to 20° Celsius. Summer nights can get cooler with a minimum temperature of 10° Celsius. Light woolen clothes are required while visiting Gangotri during summer. Winter season is very chilly in Gangotri. Gangotri will be covered in sheets of snow during winter. Pilgrim centers remains closed throughout winter due to heavy snow falls.

Morning after breakfast,drive to Guptkashi via Moolgarh & Lambgoan. Enroute you can see the beautiful river Mandakini at Tilwara. The Mandakiniriver comes from Kedarnath, drive alongside the river to reach Guptakashi, visit ArdhNarishwar Temple in Guptakashi. Check into the hotel arrival in Guptakashi. Overnight stay at Guptakashi. Guptakashi:-The name GuptKashi means “Hidden Benares. Mythology describes how when the Pandava brothers were searching for a glimpse of Shiva, Shivji first concealed himself at Guptkashi, but later fled from them further up the valley to Kedarnath, where the Pandavas finally got their wish fulfilled. There are more tangible connections as well-the Kedarnath pandas (priests) live in Guptkashi during the winter months, and after the Kedarnath temple closes for the winter, the image of Kedarnath passes through GuptKashi on its way to Ukhimath (across the valley), where it stays for the winter. Guptkashi Weather – pleasant in summer, the temperature ranges from 25-30 degree Celsius. Cold in winters.

This morning post breakfast, visit to kedarnath. After darshan of Kedarnath Temple, overnight stay at Kedarnath which will fill your mind and thoughts with purity. By Trek: Our driver will drop you at Sonprayag in the morning then you have to take local jeep for Gourikund and then your trek starts for kedarnath ji. After darshan you follow the same and return back to Sonprayag. There is big parking issue so driver will be back at any other place if his contact no. is not working then you have to arrange other taxi or wait for your driver and send the message to any other driver. Gaurikund, Trek start from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (3584 mts) on foot or on by pony / Doli. Tour members should carry personal medicines, heavy woolen, toiletries and clothes for an overnight halt at Kedarnath. Check in Hotel. Later visit Kedarnath Temple. Night halt. Gaurikund: At a distance of 5kms from Sonprayag and at an altitude of 1982 meters., one can take bath in the hot water pond here and visit the Gauri Temple. This is the place where Goddess Parvathi meditated to attain Lord Shiva. It is the base for a trek to Kedarnath. Kedarnath: The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva, the protector and the destroyer. According to legend, the Pandavas after having won over the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra war, felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar and his locks (hair) with head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.

On 8th day's morning, have a breakfast. Then we will return to Guptkashi so that we can easily visit Badrinath next day. After reaching Guptkashi, check in at hotel. Overnight halt at Guptkashi. This return journey will be either by helicopter or trek (as per your choice)

Morning after breakfast, drive to Badrinath. Check in to the hotel arrival in Badrinath. Pilgrims after having a bath in the Taptkundhave the Darshan of Badrivishal&Aarti in evening. Brahamakapal is significant for PinddanShraddh of ancestors (Pitrus). There are other interesting sightseeing spot like Mana, VyasGufa, Maatamoorti, Charanpaduka, Bhimkund and the “Mukh” of the Saraswati River. Just within the three kms of Badrinathjee.Overnight stay at Badrinath. Badrinath one of the ‘Ancient Four Dhams’ is one of the most celebrated pilgrimage spots of the country and is situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters, guarded on either side by the two mountain ranges known as Nar & Narayan with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop. This revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries. Thus, the place got the name “Badri van”, meaning “forest of berries”. Tapt Kund:Natural thermal springs on the bank of the river Alaknanda, where it is customary to bath before entering the Badrinath temple. Mana Village:Inhabited by an Indo-Mongolian tribe, it is the last Indian village before Tibet. Vasundhara: As the name suggests, vasundhara is a magnificent water fall. This place is 5 kms. From Badrinath out of which 2 kms. Is motorable upto Mana. Bhim Pul: On the other side of Mana village, a massive rock forming a natural bridge, lies over the roaring Saraswati river. It presents a spectacular view of water thundering down through the narrow passage under the rock and is believed to have been placed there by Bhim, the second eldest among the five Pandava brothers. Vyas Gufa (cave): Near Mana Village, this is a rock-cave where VedVyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata and the pauranic commentaries. Badrinath Weather: The average maximum temperature will be around 18° Celsius and the average minimum is 8° Celsius. Warm and woolen clothes are hence required for a stay in Badrinaththroughout the year. Winter in Badrinath is often accompanied by snow falls. Winter is very chilly with an average temperature of 5° Celsius. Due to the extreme climatic conditions, this time is usually closed for tourists.

Morning after breakfast,driver for Rudraprayag via Joshimath. Visit on the way Narsingh Temple in Joshimath later drive back to Rudraprayag via Joshimath. Check into the hotel arrival in Rudraprayag. Overnight stay at Rudraprayag. Joshimath is situated on the slopes above the confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Dhauliganga. Of the four ‘Maths’ established by AdiShankaracharya, Joshimath is the winter seat of Badrinath. The idol is brought down to Joshimath and installed in the temple for people to worship. There are many other temples in the township. The most important is the temple of Nir Singh with the idol of Lord Vishnu. The left arm of this deity is getting destroyed with time and the popular belief holds that the day the arm completely withers Badrinath valley will cease to exist and the Gods will transfer the residence into the neighboring Niti Valley at BhavishyaBadri. Rudraprayag is one of the PanchPrayag (five confluences) of Alaknanda River. It is confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini. Kedarnath, a Hindu holy town is located 86 km from Rudraprayag. Kedarnath Dham Yatra
Kedarnath Temple is the most revered shrine of Hindu deity Lord Shiva. The Mandir was built in 8th century A.D. by Adi Shankaracharya. It is adjacent to the site of an earlier temple built by the Pandavas. Kedarnath is one of India’s most famous temples (more than 1000 years old temple) dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Kedarnath Temple complex is being rehabilitated after 2013 Kedarnath floods. New facilities include helipads, helipad and new guest houses. Online facilities for Kedarnath booking are also there. Kedarnath Puja can be book online and no physical presence of devotees needed. Some pujas could be book on the internet or in person. The daily pooja rituals at the Kedarnath temple start early morning, around 4.00 am with Maha Abhishek and end at around 7.00 pm with the Shyam aarti. History About Kedarnath
Legend goes that, “Nara and Narayana performed severe penance in front of a Shivalingam fashioned out of earth”. Kedarnath is a well-known shrine for Lord Shiva devotees and Kedarnath temple history is almost more than 1000 years-old. Legend says they requested Shiva to take up a permanent abode as Jyotirlingam. Kedareshwar is a place where the Pandavas sought Shiva’s blessings.

According to another legend, Goddess Parvati worshipped Kedaeshwar to unite with Shiva as Ardhanareeswarar. Bhairon is a temple dedicated to Bhaironathji who is ceremoniously worshipped at the opening & closing of Kedarnath Temple. The belief is that Bhairavnathji protects this land from evil during the time when the temple is closed. Kedarnath is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas or the cosmic light.

The temple is over a thousand years old and is located in the Rudra Himalayas, northern India. It is home to the world's highest Jyotirlinga the Kedarnath lingam.

 

Yamunotri Trek
JANKI CHATTI TO YAMUNOTRI
Start the next day after breakfast for a trek to Yamunotri. Before you start, you can take a holy dip in the hot springs. The trek of around 7 km is easy with several halts and you can easily reach Yamunotri at around 1 pm. You can have your lunch at Yamunotri and or head to the temple for prayers. At Yamunotri, devotees pray at Surya Kund, a natural hot water spring named after the Sun God, who is said to be the father of River Yamuna. Pilgrims bathe in the kund, and offer rice and potatoes as offerings to god. Yamunotri is one of the Char Dham sites and is also the first place to visit in the Char Dham Circuit. Thousands of tourist visit to Yamunotri temple of Goddess Yamuna from April to October every year. After your prayers, you can trek back to Janki Chatti and then proceed towards Barkot by road. You can stay at Barkot at night.

 

The entire trekking route is cemented along with a railing on one side which ensures safety. You will know that you have reached the middle point of the trek once you reach a steel bridge that runs over one of the several tributaries of Yamunotri river. 300 metres further from this point you will be standing at a bifurcation point on the trail and a path leading leftwards is a different and an alternative trekking path to Yamunotri which meets finally the main trail after the final switchback. There are three switchback options available for the people going on an alternative route first one is right after the steel bridge; the next one is just before the Bhairav temple and the final switchback is the steepest one which occurs right before the Yamunotri temple.

 

What to Expect While Trekking

On reaching Jankichatti which is the last road head for Yamunotri your trekking expedition to the main temple of Yamunotri commences. This will be a journey of 6 kms and will take you through some of the most picturesque and scenic views of the valleys below. The route is rough and goes through regular intervals of steepness, plains and descents. You will encounter a number of people making the journey on various alternate transport methods like palkis, dolis and mules the services which they had availed from Janki chatti. While going towards the temple on the right hand side you will be kept company with the tall green covered mountain peaks and the Yamuna river flowing below. People underestimate the beauty of this place and are just focussed at reaching their destination. Some parts of the trekking route also have broad stairs which makes it easier for the pilgrims to walk. You will also be viewing some fabulous waterfalls falling from a great height and also the towering snow clad mountain peaks which will be a sight to behold.

 

Amenities Available

There are several food facilities available on the trekking route to Yamunotri which springs to life especially during the peak seasons whereas during the off seasons the entire trekking route is either covered in snow or deemed inhospitable for trekking purposes. There are also various make shift tea stalls available offering maggi to eat. There are also some dhabas and small eating joints available to beat your hunger pangs that may arise due to walking.

 

Resting spots are also made to allow the pilgrims to rest for a bit before getting back to the journey. En route there are also some benches available along with shades to allow you to relax for a while in case you get tired while walking. There are also several water points available where you can refill your bottles.

Trekking Tips

The phone connectivity in during Yamunotri trek is primarily for BSNL and the reception is scattered and is strong only in some places. If you want continuous phone connectivity then you should carry a local phone with a BSNL sim card or you can inform your near and dear ones just before commencing the trekking journey.

Make sure that you are trekking in comfortable trekking gear like walking sticks, comfortable walking shoes and even a hat which will protect you from the scorching sun. It is also vital for you to carry a small backpack along with all your essentials like water bottle, trail mix, some Glucon-D, chocolates for an energy boost etc.

Remember to be in good shape before commencing your trekking journey. You should start walking regularly way before the starting of your journey or at least perform some breathing exercises it will in the end be extremely beneficial for your plans.

Payment Policy

Advance Booking Fee

≡ 50 days or more before the date of departure: 25% of the total cost.

≡  49 - 30 days before date of departure: 50% of the total cost.

≡  29 - 20 days before date of departure: 100% of the total cost.

≡  Important: The booking stands liable to be canceled if 100% payment is not received 20 days prior to the departure date and the received amount will be fully forfeited. The Balance no returned means won't get back to you.

How do we get money back if we have to Cancellation?

 If the tourist decides to cancel the tour for any reason whatsoever, he shall make an application in writing to that effect within the specified time limit hereunder along with the original receipt issued by the Company. Such cancellation will attract the cancellation charges stated hereunder.

Cancellation charges for any mode of transport ticket are applicable as per the rules of the concerned authority. Air ticket cancellation charges for special fares if paid by the tourist are NON-REFUNDABLE. Any refund payable will be refunded to the tourist after receipt of the refund from respective authorities after deducting the processing charges.
